As we approach the climax of the rugby season, Lansdowne is buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Here are some key updates from around the club:
First Team on a Roll
Our first team has been making waves with a recent bonus-point victory over Cork Constitution, the current champions. This impressive win positions us strongly ahead of our crucial match against Terenure on March 22nd at Lansdowne Road. A win here could propel us into top-four semi-final contention, so we urge all supporters to come out and cheer the team on. The following weeks will see us face UCD (away) on March 29th and Garryowen (home) on April 5th, with every game counting.
Club-Wide Success
The rest of the club is also thriving:
J1, J2, and J3 Teams: Leading their respective league tables, with several finals expected in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on our social media and fixtures notifications for updates.
J4s: Currently fourth in their league, unlikely to make playoffs but coming into form for the cup.
U20s: Showing improvement recently, with a big game against Clontarf next Sunday, March 9th. They need a win and favourable results elsewhere to make the AIL competition. They will face Clontarf again in the McCorry Cup first round a fortnight later.
Women's Team: The women's XV finished joint second in the league. They are now awaiting their cup competitions.
Youth and Mini Rugby
U17s: Despite losing in the Leinster Cup final, they are topping the Premier League after a win against Clontarf. Their semi-final is scheduled for March 28th.
U16s: Depleted by injuries and school commitments but looking forward to playing a Canadian touring side on Sunday, alongside our U18s.
U15s: Having a challenging season due to school commitments but persevering with a string of close defeats.
U14s: Doing well, into the final of the Premier League against Blackrock on March 23rd and the second round of the Leinster Cup. They are also traveling to Canterbury.
U13s: Lost in the league semi-final but into the second round of the Metro Cup. Thirty players are touring Biarritz over the May bank holiday, with ongoing fundraising efforts.
Minis Teams: Several blitzes lined up, with a highlight being our under-12s playing against Cork Con last weekend.
Claremont Developments
Claremont is progressing well, hosting rugby, soccer, hockey, Pilates, a gym, and a physio clinic. We are launching a pitch-side advertising campaign to support facility maintenance and development. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
