After a successful trial during the 2023/24 season, in which we gathered forces with DLSP last season, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Lansdowne Women’s program. Starting season in the 2024/25, making Claremont Road their home for the upcoming season.

Steve Rooney, past President, shares his thoughts and hopes for the Women’s program, “We’re very excited about our newly launched women’s program and the future of Women’s rugby within our club. We have high standards at all levels of rugby across the club and our aim is to achieve these standards in our Women’s team too.

The purchase of Claremont Road last year now allows us to really resource women’s rugby properly. We are very ambitious for our women’s program, and it is a big priority for the club. We are one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Ireland, so we really want to get this right.”

We have secured the coaching skills of John Tobin, to coach these players to the success we are sure they will be. Lansdowne is a club with a long history and tradition, and one of the most successful clubs in the country. Our rugby programs have proven to create a quality environment for players, where essential foundations are laid to prepare our players to play their best rugby. Our aim is to provide our players in the women’s program with the same excellent rugby resources to help them fulfil their potential as rugby players and most importantly enjoy themselves. This will be an amazing opportunity for these players to become part of our first ever women’s team and write themselves into Lansdowne history.

Our Chairman of Rugby, Ian Hopkins on the new women’s Program, “As a club with a long history and tradition, it is very exciting to be involved with the growth of the Women’s rugby program within the club. Having been involved in Lansdowne for over 20 years, I played at every level in the club and have great memories and experiences through the sport. I want as many people as possible to have the same experiences that I enjoyed.”

President Conor Shaw said, “It is exciting to see the Women’s programme up and running in Lansdowne this year, we look forward to welcoming many new members and their friends and family.”.

With training starting on August 14th, we are looking forward to lay the foundations of our program for years to come.
