Yesterday was a very historic day in the club's history being the very first rugby match to be held at the Claremont Road grounds now known as Lansdowne Sports Park.
Lansdowne Football Club acquired the site earlier this year and it has taken a momentous effort by a legion of volunteers to get it to this stage where it is match ready.
Despite the very heavy rain from Thursday until early Saturday morning, Groundskeeper Ollie Ennis from Sportsworks declared the pitch playable on Sunday morning for the first scheduled fixture Lansdowne Under 15s v Bective Rangers. Lansdowne won 39-15.
It was great to get the crowd down to the club also to support the lads and enjoy the occasion. Chef James Fegan and Will Keating did a superb job putting the Cafe in place serving great coffee and hot Croissants. This will be a regular feature now at Claremont Road.
Our thanks to Bective and to Leinster Referee Karl Howley from MU Barnhall RFC who ran a terrific game.
